RED BOOK 5, UNIT 1: Adverbs of Frequency

This unit introduces the Adverbs of Frequency, (always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely and never) along with 12 ‘Daily Verbs’ from ‘wake up’ to ‘go to bed’ along with a selection of new VERB+NOUN combinations, ‘make a sandwich, get a haircut’ etc. We learn to use these to describe our lives, eg. ‘I sometimes wear a costume.’, as well as make questions such as, ‘What time do you usually……?’ and ‘What/when/where do you usually …?’ Students learn to make long sentences using ‘but’, eg. ‘I usually watch T.V. but sometimes I read comics.’ Finally, ‘How often do you …?’ is introduced along with the answer, ‘Once, twice, 3 times a day, week, month etc.

This 'week' could be set as homework to save time.

At the bottom of the ‘Toolbox’ page are some ‘Daily verbs’; ‘wake up’, ‘leave the house’ etc.

Have the students write in the times that they do these things.
(This needs adding to the paper manual.)
