1 - Translate

Learn to translate from English to Japanese and Japanese to English for all 8 words.

2 - Answers

Learn to attempt an answer based on the question. Eg. If someone asks a, ‘Where-Question’, the answer will be a ‘PLACE’, so say a place, any place.

Make it harder!

When playing the ‘WH-question’ game, have the students make full questions. Eg. Instead of just, ‘Where?’ have them say, “Where do you ..work..?. The answers will be funny, ‘I work at the ..park..’. To do this, write, ‘Wh …….. do you…………?’, on the whiteboard. Then use VERB SET 3 as prompts. A student draws a ‘WH’ card, then a ‘VERB’ card and makes a question, eg. “When do you ..make.. ..sandwiches..?’  You can change it to the past tense, ‘did you’ to make it even harder.

These videos aim to train students to quickly recognize and answer, ‘Wh-Questions’. If the question is, “Who?”, the answer will be a person, etc. Practice the ‘Wh-Question’ English-to-Japanese translation, listen and repeat the answers then get ready for the challenge. The speed will increase with each level. Try to say the words before the video tells you the answer. About this video: When speaking a foreign language or doing a test, students need to think quickly and answer quickly, even if they don’t understand 100% of what is being asked. For example, a student might only hear and understand 2 words of this question, “Where —— you ——–?”. ‘WH Questions’ provide a hint of what the answer might be. A ‘Where?’ question indicates that the answer will be a ‘PLACE’. We encourage students to ‘take a guess’ and field and answer rather than just giving up and saying, ‘I don’t know!’ If the student answers, “I live in Tokyo’ or “I’m from New Zealand” , to the above question, they have a good chance of success.
