RED BOOK 5, UNIT 3: Favors - May I ...? Could You..?

This unit introduces the concept of ‘FAVORS’  and affirms that, when being polite, we usually use , ‘MAY’ with ‘I’ (ie. when we want to do the action) and ‘COULD’ with ‘YOU’ (ie. when we want others to do the action.) It’s highlighted that ‘CAN’ can be used for both (I and YOU) and can be made more polite by adding ‘PLEASE’. It’s explained the ‘CAN-COULD’ is used to describe ABILTY and POSSIBILITY (asking permission etc.) Finally we introduce the concept of , ‘WHEN’ as a ‘TIME’, (When I was 5..etc) and use it to ask questions, ‘What could he do when he was …5?) etc.’
