Continuing with the theme of the ‘S-Rule’ (Simple Present, 3rd party) we look at the word ‘have’ and how it changes to ‘has’. (and the negatives, ‘don’t have’ and ‘doesn’t have’). The unit focuses on ‘YES/NO’ questions, flipping between ‘Do you/I/we…? and ‘Does he/she/it?’ We look at ‘body parts’ (eyes, ears, mouth etc.) and add adjectives to them to describe what the robots look like, eg. “It has scary eyes”, “Does it have a round nose?” We look at the ‘habits’ of the robots of what they eat, drink and play, eg. ”Does it eat onions? Does it play guitar?’. Finally we RECAP the question ‘WHOSE?’ and the POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS, ‘Whose robot is this?’ Students practice reading the physical descriptions of robots to determine which person owns which robot although this is not a major focus of this unit. NOTE! – The games in this UNIT are based on DETECTIVE GAMES. See the ‘Teachers Manual- Games- Detective Games’ for detailed instructions. The first ‘detective game’ involves finding a ROBOT based on its looks, eg. ‘Does it have long hair/ scary eyes/ a wide mouth? etc.. The second game involves finding a ROBOT based on it’s habits, eg. ‘Does it eat onions / play guitar?
